The organization received a call from a Good Samaritan who had spotted the stray dog and mentioned that the pup was severely matted.

She was so matted in fact, that you couldn’t even see her eyes or paws.

A couple of volunteers from the rescue organization gathered for the mission and they quickly spotted the pup hiding behind an electricity transformer.

“I’ve never seen a dog that matted in my life,” one of the rescuers said.

You can immediately notice that the dog is quite scared of humans as she keeps on barking and doesn’t want anything to do with the rescuers at first. However, by staying close and gaining her trust, the people from Hope For Paws are able to connect with her and put on a leash to bring her along with them and put her out of this predicament.

It was hard to get her to cooperate, but the pup opened up and never became aggressive again.

It’s abundantly clear that this pup was in immediate need of some medical attention and love. The rescuers kept on petting her and she definitely didn’t seem to mind.

Because of her severe condition, the rescuers weren’t even sure at first if the dog was actually a boy or a girl.

The man leading the rescue mission put his ‘Lucky Leash’ around her as they took her to the car.

Immediately, the rescuers took her to a groomer to get rid of the excess of the matted hair. It’s really incredible how bad her situation was, as even her paws were covered with three thick layers of matted hair. The rescuers also decided to take care of her and named her Dolly.

As you might expect, the groomer definitely had a lot of work dealing with Dolly’s matted hair.

The organization tells us that they’ve spent hours on removing the hair and giving Dolly a well-deserved and much-needed bath.

The transformation is absolutely remarkable both in terms of her looks as well as her personality.

“It’s amazing how quickly a dog’s personality changes when given a little love and care,” the rescuers posted.

Dolly has finally regained her smile and is now an adorable little furball full of energy and excitement.

One of the viewers shared a similar story about an encounter with a matted dog.

“A couple years ago, there was a poodle living in the field by my house. She was very skittish and shy when little kids and my dad tried to approach her. Later that night it was raining and my dad was coming home from work and he saw her sitting in the field all drenched. After a couple of tries, she finally let my dad take her in. Her fur was also very matted. The next day we brought her to the animal shelter. After that, we realized she would be a perfect welcome home gift for my Grandma. So we adopted her and gave her to my Grandma. Now she’s like the most energetic and friendly dog I’ve ever met,” Ariana Abdon posted.

“The little dog smile at the end and the moment they realize there being rescued is always the best,” another commented.
